Replacement of the UZH Card
Table of contents
The UZH Card is automatically sent to students by mail at the beginning of their studies for the entire duration of their studies after payment of the semester invoice. Employees receive the card for the duration of their employment, and guests for the duration of their respective service relationship at the University of Zurich.
Careful handling
The UZH Card must be kept in a safe place. It must not be bent, damaged, or covered with stickers, as this can impair the integrated chip and/or damage the validation stations.
Replacement subject to charge
If you cause damage to your UZH Card or lose it, you can order a new card from our web shop. The fee is CHF 25.00. Please note the information below and in the shop.
Replacement free of charge
The card will be replaced free of charge in the following cases:
- Defect, e.g. due to a manufacturing error, faded photo, and/or validation strip that is no longer legible
- Name change
For a free replacement due to a defect, please send a picture of the damaged card to kartenbuero@ad.uzh.ch or show it at a UZH Card information desk. If the defect is recognized as not being your fault, a new UZH Card will be sent to your private address. In the event of a name change, please also contact the Card Office at kartenbuero@ad.uzh.ch with a request.
Note
- If you would like a new photo at the same time as your replacement card, please send it to kartenbuero@ad.uzh.ch along with your request.
- If access rights are stored on the lost/damaged card, please order a new card (see above) and also contact the decentralized access officer(s) at your institute.
- When a new card is issued, the old card will be automatically blocked and can no longer be used.
